Water Rates
| Efficient water use and reduced water waste is an easy way save money. These actions are especially important, due to current regional water shortages. In an effort to increase awareness of the cost of local and imported water supplies and encourage further conservation throughout the valley, SCWD implemented an inclining block tiered water rate structure for single-family residential customers and a separate uniform water rate for irrigation customers effective January 1, 2010. | |
|
Why did my rates increase?
SCWD is committed to providing a cost-effective service and reasonably priced water to our customers. The proposed rate increases are in effect January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2012 and provide the funds necessary for the following items:
- Anticipated increase in the wholesale cost of imported water
- Water system operations including increasing treatment, operational and maintenance costs to meet stringent federal and state water quality regulations
- Higher energy costs
- Capital Improvement Program

How can I avoid paying higher rates?
The implementation of this new rate structure will encourage conservation by rewarding those that conserve and penalizing those that waste water. Efficient water use will save you money and help to protect the valley's water resources. Visit our conservation page for easy water saving tips.
SCWD has prepared a financial plan and rate equity study supporting the rate increase. The study is available for review at our administrative offices during normal office hours. If you have questions, please contact our customer service department at (661)259-2737.
